Deccan's decision to drop Gibbs from this game and include Dwayne Smith and Chaminda Vaas really paid off for them. Smith's 47 off 32 balls took Deccan to a respectable total of 166/7. Symonds and Suman contributed 30 and 29 runs respectively. For Rajasthan, Yousuf Pathan took 3 wickets and Ravindra Jadeja took 2.

The Deccan bowlers kept Rajasthan on thier toes from the very beginning. Smith was out lbw by Vaas for only 1 run. Rajasthan continued to lose wickets at regular intervals and were all out for only 116 in 19.3 overs. Asnodkar with 44 was the high scorer for Rajasthan. Sharma took the wickets of Raut, Morkel and Warne in quick succession (12-3) and Vaas took 2 wickets conceding only 19 runs.

Dwayne Smith was named Man of the Match for his 47 runs off only 32 balls.
