Delhi DareDevils v Kings XI Punjab at Delhi

DDD v KXP, IPL Match 40, Delhi: Kings XI Punjab beat Delhi DareDevils by 6 runs (D/L Method)

Kings XI Punjab beat Delhi Daredevils by 6 runs (D/L method) in the rain interrupted Indian Premier League match at Feroze Shah Kotla Stadium.
Punjab were set to chase 123 runs in 11 overs after rain reduced the match into 11 overs a side contest. But the chase didn't last long as rain interrupted again after the 8th over of the Kings XI’s innings.
Earlier, rain truncated the Delhi Daredevils vs Kings XI Punjab match of the Indian Premier League to an 11-overs-a-side affair on Saturday night. Delhi Daredevils were 94 for one against Kings XI Punjab when rain interrupted the tie at the Ferozeshah Kotla, truncating the tie. Delhi skipper Virender Sehwag was batting on 47 off just 19 balls and giving him company was Shikhar Dhawan (1) when rain stopped play.
Sehwag's unbeaten blitzkrieg was studded with two boundary and five towering sixes. After a drizzle-delayed start, Sehwag won the toss and decided to bat first, raising 75 runs for the first wicket along with Gautam Gambhir (40). Two balls later, Gautam Gambhir's slash flew to VRV Singh at third man but the fielder was in two minds whether to go for the catch or stop the boundary and he ended up doing neither.
Given his volatile temper, Sreesanth did well to retain his smile at the end of the over even though it seemed sarcastic and the visitors looked in horror as sloppy fielding spread like a rash. Sehwag responded by milking 22 off VRV's first over, following up back-to-back sixes with a four, even though Gambhir lost his furniture to IPL debutant Ramesh Powar after a breezy 40, having featured in a 75-run opening stand. Sehwag was in no mood to relent as he went after the spin twins of Powar and Piyush Chawla, hitting them over the ropes with characteristic nonchalance.
Neither Sreesanth's probing line, nor Chawla's guile could stop Sehwag - it eventually required a heavenly intervention to halt the Delhi skipper's progress. By the time play resumed, it was truncated to an 11-overs-a-side affair and Shikhar Dhawan (8), perished trying to up the ante, as did Tillakaratne Dilshan (8) and Ferveez Maharoof (0).
