Kings XI Punjab came into this match knowing that if they lost today, their hopes of entering the semi-final would be squashed. The Punjab bowlers did a good job on the field, limiting Delhi Daredevils to only 120/9. Brett lee took 3 wickets conceding only 15 runs and Sreesanth took the valuable wickets of Dilshan and de Villiers.

Kings XI Punjab stumbled in the beginning of their innings after losing a few wickets. They were 3-35 in 5.2 overs. Punjab's pace was slow and soon they needed about 10 runs per over in the last 4 overs. But Sangakkara (43) and Irfan Pathan (21) played a great game and led their team to an absolutely essential win. Punjab reached 123/4 in 19.1 overs.

Brett Lee was named Man of the Match for his brilliant bowling (15-3).
